Who Voted Against the Repeal of SB 60?
In the full Assembly there were nine votes
against the repeal:
Wilma Chan
Lou Correa
Meryvn Dymally
Jackie Goldberg
Loni Hancock
John Longville
Cindy Montanez
Juan Vargas
Leland Yee
In the Assembly Transportation Committee, in
addition to the no votes by Correa, Goldberg and Yee, Gloria Negrete
McLeod (who previously said she would vote to repeal SB 60) voted
against it. She then abstained in the full Assembly.
In The Senate there were no opposing votes on the full
Senate floor.
In the Senate Tranportation Committee, Dean Florez
and Nell Soto voted no. Florez abstained on the Senate floor
vote, while Soto voted yes.

EARLIER THIS YEAR,
Sacramento lawmakers passed one of the most craven pieces of legislation the
state Capitol has ever produced. Last week, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
signed a bill repealing the erstwhile SB60, which would have allowed illegal
immigrants to obtain California driver's licenses. The journey that led
state pols to kill the bill they once embraced has a moral behind it.
