400 GATHER TO COMMEND US BORDER PATROL FOR A JOB WELL DONE
A large group of approximately 400 held a rally Saturday (July 24) at the U.S. Border Patrol Station in Temecula, California to support and honor our Border Patrol Agents for the great job they are doing. A proclamation was read that declared July 24 as "Border Patrol Appreciation Day." Over 300 signatures were collected on a petition that will be sent to Asa Hutchinson, Under Secretary for Border and Transportation Security. The petition demands that the interior enforcement ("sweeps") program be continued and expanded.

Area elected representatives and leaders of several groups that support legal immigration came together to commend the Border Patrol and speak in favor of secure borders and resumption of the interior sweeps. A few weeks prior a group of about 30 that oppose the Border Patrol's enforcement action's held a protest at the Temecula station. "Our goal was to show support for our Border Patrol Agents and the interior sweeps with strength in numbers and with approximately 400 enthusiastic attendees we feel our mission was accomplished," said Arne Chandler, one of the organizers of the Rally.

SB 1160 Placed on "Suspense File"

SACRAMENTO -- The California State Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously voted to place SB 1160, Sen. Gil Cedillo's bill to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens, on the suspense file.  This is routinely done to bills that would have a fiscal impact on the state, especially at budget negotiation time.

Don't be fooled.  This action does not mean the bill is dead.  It can be pulled from the suspense file at any time.  Be assured that we will remain vigilant and keep you informed of the latest developments.
